I do believe this is likely to be my first and only surprise wedding ever. At least one quite like this. I have heard of couples throwing a party or hosting a reunion only to surprise their guests with a wedding ceremony. This is the first time I have encountered a groom willing to surprise his bride with a wedding.
Lest you think Tai was taking a huge gamble, Katie had already designed her engagement ring. She just didn't think she would be getting it until at least September, let alone married by then!.
On a mini-vacation to Florida, Katie began her day by watching a video Tai had prepared for just this occasion. The video proposal included well wishes from friends and family who were in on the surprise. I only wish I had been there to see the inevitable tears of joy.
Tai had arranged for more than just a well-prepared video however. He surprised Katie by flying her best friend down for the wedding. So Tai and Katie were attended by two bridesmaids, two groomsmen, a charming ring bearer, and a beautiful little flower girl.
A few months before, Tai made a very smart decision and contacted Shannon Perez at Florida Beachside Weddings and Simply In Love Photography to help create the day of any woman's dreams. They thought of everything! I don't know many men who would be willing to tackle such a feat, but Tai pulled it off with flair!
Shannon arranged for some pampering, hair, and makeup. Then a limo ride to the bridal shop for outfitting the complete wedding party. Next stop, Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach for a sweet and lovely evening ceremony complete with drapery and flowers, followed by more limo travel to a restaurant for the wedding dinner.
* This is sweet and romantic, but keep in mind for the ceremony to result in a legal marriage the couple does need to have a valid marriage license. Florida does not have a waiting period for out-of-state residents so the license is valid the moment you get it. Therefore, an eight hour engagement might be possible. I would not recommend surprising your significant other with a same day wedding unless you can squeeze in a trip to the courthouse and do not have a waiting period, or are both perfectly happy with a symbolic wedding followed by a trip to the courthouse another day to make the marriage legal.
Coordination, Decorations, Music, and Photography were by Simply In Love Weddings and of course I officiated.
