The Porcher House is a beautiful historic home in Cocoa Village. The Cocoa Civic Center is right next door and River Front Park is located directly behind the house. All three properties are managed by the city of Cocoa and can be rented in pretty much any combination making this an ideal venue for almost any size guest list.
Edward Postell Porcher built the home in 1916. It is a splendid example of twentieth century classical revival architecture in Florida. The home has ten bedrooms and is made with native coquina rock. The interior is appointed with beautiful oak, cedar, and teak woods. Behind the wall at the top of the stairs makes an idle room for getting ready before the ceremony.
Renaissance Catering is based at the house and I can vouch from personal experience that Chef Anthony does yummy work and it is always beautifully displayed!
This is one of the venues where I believe a rehearsal is pretty much a necessity. The house and yard make for a spectacular backdrop for a wedding, but it can be a slightly tricky venue in terms of coordinating everyone's movements. There are so many options for placing the wedding party and for how to enter and exit the ceremony site. If the groom is trying not to see the bride in her dress before the ceremony, a little preparation is important with all the windows, multiple entrances, and a gap in the hedgerow.
The weather is an issue for ceremonies on the front lawn, but alternatives are readily available. If a wedding is rained out and moved indoors or over to the Civic Center, the squalls typically pass in time to get lovely portraits on the front steps and out back in River Front Park. The biggest drawback to this venue is parking. You will need to make a special point of instructing guests and take care not to schedule your wedding when Cocoa Village is hosting a craft show or street fair.
The staff at the Porcher House are lovely to work with and the rental prices are surprisingly reasonable in my opinion. The Porcher House is located at 434 Delannoy Avenue, Cocoa, FL 32922.
