UU Church of
Brevard Affiliate Minister: May 1, 2007 - present
As the affiliate minister at UUCB, I am
responsible for Sunday morning ministerial programs on the second
Sunday of each month. I coordinate with the membership committee to
facilitate a Guest and New Member Ministry. I am available for
visiting members in need and participating in community events as a
representative of UUCB. In a community outreach capacity, I have
delivered the invocation at a Brevard County Parks and Recreation
Department ribbon-cutting ceremony, taught a class on Unitarian
Universalism for the Shepherd's Center, and addressed the Brevard
County School board on the subject of appropriate sex education for
our public school children. In 2008, I organized a half-day seminar
on the subject of Peacemaking and presented a section entitled
Gender Roles in Peacemaking.
UU Church of Brevard Ministerial
Intern: 2006
As the ministerial intern at UUCB, I lead the initiative to become a
Welcoming Congregation providing a safe spiritual home for gays,
lesbians, bisexuals and transgendered persons. At the end of this
process we became a Welcoming Congregation with a unanimous
congregational vote. I organized a full-day community seminar on the
Separation of Church and State. During my internship, the membership
at the church increased by over 25%.
