Rites of passage are an important part of human life whether we are members of a religious community, consider ourselves "spiritual but not religious," or are completely secular. Our loved ones gather with us to celebrate our greatest happiness or alleviate our deepest pain. Our joys are multiplied and our sorrows divided in a communal context in which ritual, whether religious or secular, is involved. This site is primarily devoted to weddings, but it is my pleasure and an honor to assist you with commitment and vow renewal ceremonies, child dedications and baptisms, or memorial services and funerals - any ritual for which you feel a professional celebrant would be most appropriate.

You might think a declaration of marriage is a declaration of marriage, but this portion of the wedding ceremony can be as unique as any other element of your service. It can be secular or religious.

Most people do not pay as much attention to the declaration of marriage as they do to the instructions to kiss. The traditional, "you  may kiss your bride" can be replaced with "you may seal your marriage with a kiss" or "please begin your marriage with a kiss" for a more equitable and contemporary version.

_________ and __________, as you have exchanged vows of love in our presence, pledged your faith and declared your unity by each giving and receiving a ring, and, as you are now joined together in mutual esteem and devotion, it is my joy and privilege as a Minister in the state of Florida to pronounce you joined in matrimony. Please begin your marriage with a kiss.

____ and ____ , in the presence of God and this company, you have pledged yourselves to one another in love, compassion, righteousness and truth and symbolized your vows with the giving and receiving of rings. In the presence of these witnesses it is my honor and joy as a member of the clergy in the state of Florida to pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.

What _________ and ____________ have brought together in the bonds of love, let not these bonds be broken. For as much as you have exchanged vows of sacred matrimony and symbolized your intent with the giving and receiving of rings, it is my pleasure as a Minister in the state of Florida to pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.

______ and ______, you have publicly expressed your intent to live together in the holy estate of matrimony. You have committed your lives to one another symbolized by the giving and exchanging of rings. With great joy as a duly ordained minister in the state of Florida, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.

___________ and __________, with the support of your families and friends, by the vows you have made to one another, by the strength of your covenant, and in the presence of God, it is my pleasure to pronounce you “Husband and Wife.” You may seal your marriage with a kiss.

Because ____ and ____ have desired each other in marriage, have witnessed this before God and our gathering, have pledged their love and faith to each other, sealing their vows in the giving and receiving of rings, I do proclaim that they are husband and wife in the sight of God and man. Let all people here and everywhere recognize and respect this holy union, now and forever.  You may kiss your bride.

____________ and ___________, you have made special promises to each other symbolized by the joining of hands, taking of vows and the giving and receiving of rings. Your friends and family have blessed this union with their presence this day. By the authority vested in me as a minister in the state of Florida, I do hereby pronounce you husband and wife. You may seal your covenant with a kiss.

As ______ and ______ have publicly declared their intent to be married before God and this company, have commemorated their commitment in the giving and receiving of rings, I do hereby proclaim they are husband and wife from this day forward. You may seal your marriage with a kiss.

Book of Common Prayer: For as much as _____ and _______ have consented together in holy wedlock, and have witnessed the same before God and this company, and thereto have given and pledged their troth, each to the other, and have declared the same by giving and receiving a Ring, and by joining hands; I pronounce that they are Man and Wife, In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.
